Advantages of  database  approaches:

1.Program  data Independence:

           The program data independence can be defined as a separation of metadata from an application program.  the database approach strongly provides access to data description by storing it at a central location called a repository.  as database programs in the database are independent of the strong deals,  the modification of the organization's data becomes easy and can be enhanced without performing any change to the application programs.

2. Reduced  data redundancy: 

             redundancy can define as duplication of data. reduced redundancy specifies avoiding the total amount of duplicate data and recording the total amount of storage space required.  in an ideal database design, all previously separated data files are integrated into a  single logical structure. this implies that data gets stored only at one location within the database. such an approach minimizes the extra processing time required to search in a large mass of data. other advantages of avoiding duplication are the elimination of inconsistencies in searching the required data file.

3.Improved data consistency:

           data consistency can be defined as validity, accuracy, usability, and integrity of data between applications and other IT  enterprises. it provides consistent data to user. however, in the case of inconsistent data changes made to redundant data are not reflected in other data. such databases provide incorrect and contradictory information to the users. however, if the redundancy is controlled or minimized, the likelihood of inconsistent data is also minimized.

4.Improved data  sharing:

           data sharing summarizes database access to both authorized internal and external users. here each user requires one or more user views into the database. a user view can be defined as a logical representation of some part of a database that is usually used by the user to perform the task. the creation of user view is done basis.in addition to this, existing application programs are entitled to share the data in the database.

5.Enforcement of standards:

              at the time of the implementation of the database approach, the role of the database administrator should be able to establish and enforce all database standards. the development of these standards is done through a data repository that provides a powerful set of tools to the DBA. these standards, uniform procedures for accessing, updating, and protecting data.

6.Improved quality:

          the quality of data is almost important in the database approach. the poor quality of data affects strategic planning and database administration. the tools and processes provided by the database so as to improve the quality of data are,

  1. integrity constraints are applied by DBMS these constraints, behave as rules and can not be violated by database users. with such constraints, the user maintains the improved quality of data.
     2. the role of the data warehouse environment is to clean the operational data before it is stored in a data warehouse such as clearing maintains the quality of the data warehouse.
